Where brilliance meets support.

The Gift & The Gap Approach™

Created by Lauren Christian, the Gift & The Gap Approach™ is a developmentally informed framework that helps families understand and support twice-exceptional (2e) kids with clarity and confidence. This approach bridges giftedness and growth by teaching parents how to identify their child’s strengths, map their lagging skill areas, and build the emotional, executive, and communication tools needed to thrive.

Grounded in evidence-based practices, skill-building, and compassionate presence, the Gift & The Gap Approach™ gives families a practical pathway to move from chaos to connection—so their child’s brilliance isn’t overshadowed by misunderstanding, and their challenges aren’t faced alone.

Do you know a kid like this?

Brilliant one moment, spiraling the next. Your kid can build worlds in their imagination, yet fall apart over a worksheet. Their sensitivity runs deep — to sound, to fairness, to how they’re seen. At school, that can look like distraction or defiance. But it isn’t. It’s difference. Twice-exceptional kids (2e) are gifted and wired for profound emotional and sensory experience. I help them — and you — turn that complexity into confidence.

About Lauren

Lauren Christian is a 2e & Emotional Development Specialist, mindfulness coach, spiritual director, and author whose work sits at the intersection of emotional development, neurodiversity, and embodied spiritual wisdom. She supports gifted and twice-exceptional (2e) kids — and the parents and educators who care for them — in building focus, self-regulation, communication, and confidence.

Lauren is currently pursuing a dual Master of Divinity and Master of Pastoral Counseling (MDiv/MAPC) at Loyola University Chicago, where she integrates developmental psychology, family systems theory, interfaith spirituality, and trauma-informed pastoral care into her practice. Her approach is grounded in both academic formation and lived experience — as an adult with her own 2e wiring and as a mother advocating for her twice-exceptional son.

Drawing on her background as a mindfulness teacher, yoga educator, and spiritual director, Lauren blends somatic awareness, nervous-system literacy, and practical emotional tools to help 2e kids navigate intensity, sensitivity, perfectionism, and executive function gaps. She is passionate about helping children feel understood rather than misunderstood — and helping parents move from confusion and overwhelm to clarity and confident advocacy.

Lauren is also the author of The Gift & The Gap (forthcoming), a book that explores the coexistence of brilliance and struggle in 2e kids, offering parents and educators a new lens for understanding gifted neurodiversity. She is developing an accompanying self-regulation card deck for 2e kids to help them express their needs and access calming strategies anywhere — home, school, or social environments.

With a warm, grounded presence and a deeply integrative skillset, Lauren’s work centers on one mission: help bright, complex minds feel safe, understood, and fully themselves.
